This picture of the port dates from the 1840s. There's a lot to see here. In the background the largely unaltered Fabian's Bay lies behind the East Pier. The wharves of Port Tennant can just be seen in the background. The ships in the Town Reach are typical copper ore ships, increasing in size quite quickly in this period. In the foreground are the small very compact terraces at the base of Gibbet Hill.
